The Heartbeat of America launches custom electrical cables!
Robert N. Burkle founded Autac in 1947. Throughout his thirty-year tenure as CEO of this organization, his philosophy was straightforward: the consumer comes first.
With UL/CUL approval, the company’s industrial electrical cables and retractile power cords are in use throughout the United States and Canada. Retractile coil cords from Autac have been utilized in various applications ranging from test leads and power cords to cord sets and telecommunication cable assemblies.
The products and services for custom electrical cables offered are:
Retractable extension cord
Simply described, retractile cords are cords or cables that can expand and then retract with minimal strain on the core wire. These cords, which are usually spiral-shaped wires, are constructed of polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), or thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) to insulate the copper wire inside. They are also called retractable cords, coil cords, or curly cords.
These custom electric cables can easily triple their retracted wire length when extended. This makes connecting two power devices simple. USB chargers and life support equipment are the only two machines requiring retractile cords.
Coiled extension cord
Coiled cords, also known as retractile or Curly cords, are made of metal wires wrapped in a flexible spiral casing. The wires are commonly constructed of copper or aluminum, while the spiral jacket is made of an insulating substance such as thermoset or thermoplastic resins such as PVC. The material helps to keep the wires dry.
Straight and curly parts are found in all coiled cables. The latter are the sections that sag. Depending on their intended usage, retractile cords can be outfitted with connectors and other components.
The benefits include:
Space-saving. Because they are retractable, these spiral-shaped cords take up less room. Though they might reach several feet, these cables can be readily store when not in use. Retractable cords, unlike straight cables, cannot be snagged and twisted in their original or contracted form or even stretched between two or more power devices.
Resilient. Most of these electrical cables and cords are made to withstand wire breaks, abrasions, water damage, oils, UV rays, ozone, gamma radiation, and most chemicals.
Reliable. They are designed to withstand severe use, primarily because they are commonly used in the medical, robotic, and communications industries.
Durable. These wires are designed to tolerate repeated expansion and contracting. Unlike straight cable cords, the spirals in retractile cords protect the copper wire inside twice. Furthermore, because it coils around itself, not all of the cord is exposed, extending the life of the cable wires.
Flexible. These lines may be twisted and turned on to reach the devices that need to be connected. Flexibility and elasticity are incorporated into each cord because they were designed to be stretched up to five times longer than their retracted size.
Cost-efficient. You won’t have to buy them as frequently because they last longer than standard straight cables.
They are used in every industry, including:

- Medical
- Dental
- Electronics
- Automobiles

- Retail
- Architecture
- Gaming
- Energy and Alternative Energy
- Military
